Should Google index both the www and non-www versions of my website?
Posted to: SEO
I just ran a URL inspection in Google Search Console and noticed only the non-www version of my website is indexed. Should I also have the www version indexed or will that cause issues due to duplicate content?

No. Google sees the non-www and www versions as two different websites. You'll want to make sure that you're redirecting to one or the other using 301 permanent redirects to prevent duplicate content issues.

There are four different versions of this:
http://
https://
http://www
https://www
I, personally, prefer the https:// version alone, but whichever route you decide to go, make sure it's always using the https protocol and the other three redirect properly.
Also, if you already have indexed pages in search engines, it's not a good idea to change to another version unless you have the proper redirects in place.
